Pre-registration open for Practical Training Greenhouse Vegetable Cultivation

HollandDoor is starting a practical greenhouse vegetable cultivation training titled “The Eye of the Grower”. It targets greenhouse owners and/or head growers who want to expand their theoretical and practical cultivation knowledge and want to get a better understanding of the principles of optimizing greenhouse vegetable production. Experience with greenhouse vegetable cultivation is required.
Dutch high-tech vegetable greenhouses will be used as “Greenhouse Rich Learning Environments”. This will create a truly informative and inspirational base for this training. Regular topics are addressed such as plant physiology and its relation to greenhouse climate, irrigation, fertigation and plant health in order to realize optimal cultivation strategies. Moreover, we will discuss the principles of monitoring, controlling and optimizing plant balance to reach optimal production.
What makes this training different from other comparable trainings is its approach. Although the theoretical background of the relevant physics, chemistry and plant physiology will be handled to refresh and upgrade participants’ knowledge, the main focus is on learning to understand the plant growth itself by visiting the crops, and learning by taking “crop walks” in commercial Dutch greenhouses. With daily visits to greenhouses, the participants will learn “how to read the plant and discover what it wants to tell you” and increase their plant-judging skills. The plant appearance together with crop registration and greenhouse climate data will create a base to formulate effective cultivation strategies. This approach emphasizes “green fingers” in combination with the use of the modern data collection and data evaluation procedures.
Training duration will be one week, taking place from Sunday to Sunday (arrival / departure days). The price will include all costs in the Netherlands, such as transport, accommodation, meals and training. It excludes travel costs to the meeting point at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
Due to the situation with Covid-19, we can’t guarantee that this training will take place in the 2nd half of September or early October or will be postponed until somewhere in April – June 2021. If interested, please use the following link. This is just an expression of your interest and will be considered as a pre-registration. We will inform you in due time if the training will take place, be postponed or is cancelled.
