HollandDoor organizes various study trips focusing on fodder production, dairy farming, and dairy processing. For dairy farming, we emphasize feeding, genetics, health, and/or milking. In addition, we can also organize training sessions with CowSignals® in the Netherlands. HollandDoor has been organizing these tailor-made study trips for many years with our partners in the dairy industry.
In April 2024, we organized a tailor-made program on dairy robotics, TMR feeding, sensor technology, and other innovations in the Netherlands for DFA (Dairy Farmers Association) Haryana, India. We are also planning similar study trips for farmers from farmer producer organizations in Punjab and in Maharashtra.
Over the past two years, professional farmers from DFA Haryana have visited leading companies such as Trioliet, Nedap, Intracare, JOZ, Fullwood, CRV, Uniform Agri, KI-Samen, WOPA, Denkavit, Heemskerk, and Trouw Nutrition. In addition, they have engaged with organizations such as CowSignals®, Dairy Campus, Aeres Dronten, De Marke, DTC Oenkerk, and VIC Zegveld with HollandDoor experts.
During the study trip in April 2024, we focused on dairy robotics, sensor technology, and other innovations. We also visited five dairy farms, gaining valuable insights from the practical experience of these five farmers. The Dutch farmers focused on genetics, management, and the health of the cows and calves.
Dairy farming in the Netherlands presents significant challenges due to environmental regulations and the high costs of feed and land. The farmers from DFA Haryana, India found it fascinating to learn about these challenging issues first-hand. The Indian farmers were also impressed by the size of the farms, the quality of the management, and the use of sensor technology. The Haryana farmers saw great potential in Dutch sensor technology for improving reproduction and milk quality. They also showed keen interest in rearing young stock with milk replacers and using udder care products.
Throughout the trip, there were extensive discussions on genetics/AI, TMR feeding, and milking parlors. The Haryana farmers are optimistic about introducing the first milk robot system in India by 2024!
