On behalf of the Netherlands Representative Office in Ramallah (NRO) and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, HollandDoor organised a study visit for a Palestinian delegation in the Dutch seed potato sector. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Palestinian Authority (PA), NGO’s and the private sector learned how to strengthen the potato seedlings chain, for the benefit of Dutch and Palestinian private sector companies.
As a result of this visit, the delegation members gained greater understanding of seed potato production and postharvest matters, including plant health, plant nutrition, post-harvest practices, quality standards, certifications and inspection. This knowledge will increase their capacity to advise and implement related activities in support of their sector. Seed potatoes will gain easier access to the Palestinian Territories with reduced changes of delays or rejection. The visit contributed to exchange of information and building a network with relevant organisations involved in potato export and production in both the Netherlands and the PA.
HollandDoor organized this study visit with valuable contributions from various Dutch sector organizations, private companies and institutions, including Nederlandse Aardappel Organisatie (NAO), Agrico, TPC - The Potato Company, Nederlandse Algemene Keuringsdienst (NAK), Wageningen Plant Research, Aeres University of Applied Sciences Dronten, TMA Logistics, Van Iperen International, Rijk Zwaan, Solynta | true potato seeds.
