Thirteen Korean horticulture students complete month of intensive training in the Netherlands

Following three successful editions in 2022, 2023 and 2024, Chonnam National University (CNU) in South Korea once again asked HollandDoor to repeat this training last year. This time, 13 horticulture students – six male and seven female – attended from Saturday 21 June to Friday 18 July 2025.

The CNU group started off with three weeks of tailor-made training, covering a combination of plant physiology, cultivation technology, cultivation planning, business and chain management and various other subjects. Fifteen unique day programmes were developed to address these subjects, with each day consisting of half a day of lectures and half a day of illustrative field excursions. Through this intensive format, the students received a total of 7.5 full days of lectures and visited 29 organizations and companies.

To keep the overall budget affordable, the students were once again accommodated in six rented holiday homes instead of hotels, with the group split between two holiday parks due to limited availability. The students prepared their own breakfasts and evening meals.

After the three-week training, the fourth week was spent in Wageningen attending a two-day tailored lecture programme provided by Wageningen University’s Horticulture and Product Physiology Group. This was followed by a few leisure days in Amsterdam to round off almost a month-long stay in the Netherlands.

Once again, the students gave high marks for the quality and facilitation of the training and returned home with a wealth of new knowledge and experiences – not only from the content but also from living abroad and enjoying spending time in the Netherlands. This will undoubtedly inspire them in their professional careers.
