From 29 to 31 October 2025 HollandDoor recently hosted a highly successful five-day study tour on dairy farming in the Netherlands for members of the Mpreaso Youth Farm Development Project delegation in Ghana.
The programme focused on demonstrating the Dutch approach to efficient and sustainable dairy farming practices. Our aim was to enable direct knowledge transfer relevant to the development of modern dairy supply chains in Ghana.
On the agenda were theoretical training, practical exercises and visits that provided practical insights into all aspects of the dairy supply chain and supporting infrastructure.
Participants gained valuable insights into organic dairy farming during a visit to De Hooilanden, where they explored the farm’s milk and meat production practices with Blaarkop cattle. At Boerderij Aerderoort they observed kefir production, while a visit to Boerderij De Pol showcased how efficiently cows can be milked with a milking robot. The three very different farms each offered their own unique perspective on sustainable dairy farming.
The delegation witnessed the crucial role of mechanization during a visit to Van Geresteijn Contracting, where they discovered how large-scale contractors contribute to optimal feed and soil management.
We would like to thank all the host companies for opening their doors and sharing their expertise, which greatly enhanced our theoretical understanding. We look forward to seeing the knowledge gained successfully implemented in Ghana.
